An ancient name,
amid stone walls
and timeless hills

The origins of Corte Baruzzo date back to the 1400s, when it appears among the possessions of the Gonzaga family in Volta Mantovana From the 18th century onwards, its traces can be followed in historical documents: a working rural estate, surrounded by olive trees, vines, mulberries, and woods.

In the 20th century, the estate extended over more than 15 hectares, enclosed by a wall where capers grow and surrounded by olive trees. The complex – dwelling, stable, barn, porticoes, and dovecote tower – is built of morainic cobblestones, with wooden roofs and ancient vaults.

Today, Corte Baruzzo is reborn, between memory and vision: a place that preserves its rural soul and opens it to the future, with elegance and authenticity.

The Restoration

The restoration project of Corte Baruzzo was born from the desire to preserve the soul of the rural complex, giving it new life without betraying its memory. Stone, lime, and reclaimed bricks and tiles speak of continuity with the past, while wood once again upholds floors and roofs, just as it did in centuries gone by.

Some recent and disharmonious structures were removed to make room for a more authentic beauty. Energy efficiency and sustainability have become an integral part of the rebirth: state-of-the-art boilers and air conditioning systems, solar panels, and a photovoltaic plant ensure environmental respect and a conscious management of resources.

The spaces of the court have been reimagined as places of encounter and contemplation: the farmyard, the gravel paths, the meadows, and the rows of cypresses accompany the entrance, preserving the balance between nature and architecture.

Thus, the ancient dwelling is transformed into welcoming rooms with bright lofts; the old stable and barn open up into restaurant halls, a reception area, and convivial spaces; the rural tower, once a dovecote, becomes an intimate and panoramic retreat. Finally, the new wellness area with indoor–outdoor pool completes the experience, offering guests a haven of peace and regeneration.

Today, Corte Baruzzo is a place where past and present intertwine, where rural tradition meets contemporary comfort, in a tale of stone, wood, and light.
